- There are a couple of hundred folks hooked up with cable modems
- right now in Newmarket (Ontario). They are (to the best of my knowledge)
- using first generation modems with 500 Kbs full duplex. Future modems
- (tested, and just beginning to be produced) will offer speeds up to
- 10 Gbs. Since there are no "standards" aggreed upon, a handful of
- manufacturers have put forth a myriad of platforms in hopes "their's"
- will become the system of choice.
- One other benefit is not tying up your phoneline. Reliability has
- not been reported as a problem to date (AFAIK).
