  19.    There are a couple of hundred folks hooked up with cable modems
  20. right now in Newmarket (Ontario). They are (to the best of my knowledge)
  21. using first generation modems with 500 Kbs full duplex. Future modems
  22. (tested, and just beginning to be produced) will offer speeds up to
  23. 10 Gbs. Since there are no "standards" aggreed upon, a handful of
  24. manufacturers have put forth a myriad of platforms in hopes "their's"
  25. will become the system of choice.
  26.    One other benefit is not tying up your phoneline. Reliability has
  27. not been reported as a problem to date (AFAIK).
